A visit to a Greek island in the 1970s made me aware of the use of terraces along a hillside. The opportunity came to use this feature when I was able to design six flats on a steeply sloping site. I tried to experiment by putting one home on top of another, giving each apartment an individual look and ample terrace space. The terraces overlook the city allowing fine views especially at night. The most important aspect of this design was the privacy it gave the occupants, with separate entry points at different levels.
