On one of my visits to Bhutan, the plane got diverted to Gauhati, Assam where all the passengers had to spend the night. Amongst the passengers was a Tibetan on his way to Darjeeling. We got talking and he suggested opening a restaurant serving genuine Chinese cuisine. We started Memories of China, in Manor Hotel, Delhi and provided excellent food for the first few weeks.

However running restaurants was more difficult than we imagined and we shut it down in three months. I lost all my savings but the debacle led to setting up a interior design workshop which more than made up for the losses. Pradeep Sachdeva who helped start the workshop is still running it successfully under the name of Windmill.
