Owning a Portuguese style villa in Goa was a dream I had to fulfill. Casa Palxem provided this wish and was the grand mansion that I was looking for. It took a year to restore and renovate but was worth every moment. Although there was an element of luxury, living in the countryside was not easy. Monkeys, pythons, scorpions, frogs, goats, cats, bats, dogs and cows were part of everyday events.

Situated 8kms. north of Mapusa, the villa is set on a hillside overlooking the rice fields. Built out of rock from the same hillside, the house follows a classical plan comprising of two large halls in front. At the rear are the dining and sleeping areas with a service wing extending on one side.
