The design was to be a small retreat overlooking a magnificent Banyan tree that is at least 200 years old and looked after with affection by local villagers.

My intention was a building that would make one feel as if one was having a picnic in the middle of a mango orchard. The small shelter is designed to have a number of 'open rooms' overlooking the Banyan.

Water bodies and stone put together as shown in the plan sketch bring together a bond between the retreat and the landscape.
