Large halls in traditional Bangalore bungalows tend to be dark and become areas of circulation due to their central location. At Casa Laburnam, I have tried to push out the hall so that it is well lit and has views of the garden. The bedrooms also have long views of the surrounding spaces. The front appears to be unwelcoming but as one enters, the house opens up into a flood of light and space.

The yellow colour named after the Laburnam flower offers a contrast to the green that surrounds the house. Although not prominent, the use of natural stone and granite form the base to the 'colourful' facade.
